Question
I have one more question for you, I downloaded the new Scale Bar that
includes the the 1/16" inch scale, however when I copy and paste it
into the my project it changes back. Here is my project so that you
can see what I mean. If you could email me a solution for this hang up
that would be great, however if we cannot find a solution would you be
willing to take that into consideration while grading my Final
Project? I included the New Scale Bar in model space but you might
need to import it directly to yourself to see what the problem is.
Thanks,
GM
Answer
I will change the name of the new scale bar and post it just after this email.
The following is a bit of clarification on how blocks work: If a drawing has a block with a specific name,
and if you try and import a new block from a different drawing with the same name, AutoCAD assumes (erroneously)
that you do not want to import the new block but that you want to use the old block (why would AutoCAD assume
this after a user goes through the effort of copying and pasting?). A solution you can deploy is deleting all
of the old blocks and purging (type "purge") but a quicker way is to rename the block (type "rename") then insert
the new, now a uniquely named block, into the current drawing.
In an ambiguous situation like this AutoCAD should be programmed to ask and allow for modifications, through a
dialog box, what option out of three the user would like to choose from: "Use the existing block and delete
the new one" (the only and current option), "Use the new block and change the name of the existing block",
"Use the new block and change the name of the new block".
Look for the renamed block on the website.

Question
Hello again I am emailing in regards to my last one to let you know i figured out how to scale down just certain dimensions and multileaders. But I have a new question! What size should the site plan dimensions be at, meaning the text height for the elevations in the site plan?
Answer
A,
I covered the dimension scaling issue yesterday at the help session. I am glad that you figured it out (it should not be as hard as it is in AutoCAD).
The site plan dimension and annotation scaling is determined using the reciprocal of the viewport scale (scale factor) that we have been applying in class this quarter. The text height for annotations and dimensions start at 3/32". Dimensions (lines, offsets, ticks and text) are scaled using the dimension "Style" then
modify option. Annotations in this class are scaled manually depending on the viewport scale factor. For example if your site plan has a viewport scale factor of 192 (1/16" = 1') then the text size for annotations will be 18" (0.09375" * 192).
I hope this answers your questions.
